Marion Rod & Gun Club
P.O. Box 187
Marion, MI
To all Members,
Membership dues are payable May 1, 2009. Dues are still $35.00 per year. Life Memberships are available at a cost of $350.00 onetime fee. Dues may be paid to the club by mail at P.O. Box 187, Marion MI, 49655. Also on Thursday evenings (including meeting night), Saturday mornings, and Sunday mornings at the clubhouse, someone will accept payment.
The club is open for skeet and trap, year round, and 5 stand and sporting clays in season.
Days open are Thursday evening, Saturday 10AM to?, and Sunday 10AM to ? The rifle and pistol ranges are, of course, open any day.
The club will host a registered Sporting Clays shoot twice this year. The first will be on Saturday, August 16, 2009 starting at 9 AM. The second shoot will be Saturday October 10, 2009, also at 9 AM.
Volunteers to work for either or both shoots are needed, and will be welcomed.
We are in need of someone to head up the rifle and pistol range committee. A volunteer would be great!
The annual meeting will be Thursday May 7, 2009. We will elect officers at that time. The election committee put forward a slate at the March meeting, nominations will be accepted from the floor.
A steak fry / club party for members and families is scheduled for Saturday May 9, 2009. The club will have the steaks, 1 Lb., and potatoes. Please bring a dish to pass and your family and gun. If we have a good turnout, we will hold more of these. There will be a $6.00 steak charge.
Our Club has had a good year in spite of tough times. We have had two successful shoots, purchased new sporting clays traps, and had our skeet traps rebuilt. We also have the new lights for the skeet field to be installed. We can plan on another good year if we continue to work at it, and enjoy the great facilities.
There was a benefit auction at the Horseshoe Bar in Marion for Frank England, one of our long time members. The auction was held April 19, 2009. Also, Fred Flemming is beginning dialysis treatments. We wish both Frank and Fred the best. The club has sent both members 2010 memberships.
Sincerely,
R. Markwart, Secretary
